University of Utah Hospital Clinics 1-3 Remodel

This project was for an extensive remodel of multiple existing clinic spaces on level 1 of building 525 – the University Hospital. The remodel work spanned three clinics in the hospital including the Infectious Disease Clinic (Clinic 1), Rheumatology (Clinic 2), and Gastroenterology (Clinic 3). The primary goals for the renovation were to improve patient waiting areas and create larger exam rooms, procedure rooms, and improve the efficiency of staff areas. The work also included aesthetic upgrades to finishes and furniture to match current hospital standards. Project challenges included construction on a 24/7 operational hospital campus, replacement of the existing 40-year-old waste piping while the systems were active and in use, and discovery (and re-routing) of an unknown HVAC system that provided heating and cooling to 19 rooms on the level above the clinic remodels. Big-D successfully completed all work without incident and the project was completed on-time and under budget.
